What is MRI?

MRI is an advanced imaging technique which uses a very strong magnetic field to produce high quality pictures of your body. Further information about your MRI scan can be found on our Patient Information Leaflet.

How do I arrange an MRI scan?

1. See your clinician

If your clinician e.g. GP or consultant, has recommended that you have a scan, we can usually arrange a mutually convenient appointment within a couple of days of receiving your completed referral form.

Before we can arrange your appointment, we'll need to receive a completed referral form from your clinician. If they do not have the necessary form for this, they can download it from our Information for referrers page.

3. Paying for your scan

We collect payment for your scan on the day of your scan. We accept the following forms of payment:

- Credit / debit card

- Cash

- Cheque

- BACS transfer

If you have private medical insurance, we usually collect payment and give you a receipt for you to claim your costs from your insurer. If you have any queries about paying for your scan please call or email us.
